Direct Mail of New York is a Business Partner with the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Postage can represent a significant portion of a direct mail project's overall cost. Mailpiece size, shape, weight, format, address quality, and postal preparation can all affect postage.
DMNY considers postal requirements as part of the planning and production process. Our experience helps us identify practical opportunities for postal efficiency and address potential postal considerations before your mailing goes into production.

Preparing Files for Production
Providing properly prepared artwork helps avoid unnecessary production delays and helps ensure the best possible print quality. When supplying artwork to DMNY, please follow these general guidelines:
High-Resolution Artwork
300 dpi or higherFiles should be supplied as high-resolution, press-ready artwork. Images should preferably be 300 dpi or higher at the size they will be reproduced.
Bleeds
0.125" (1/8") bleedWhen artwork or images extend to the edge of the finished piece, provide at least 0.125" (1/8") of additional image area beyond the trim edge on all applicable sides.
Crop Marks
Include crop marks to clearly indicate the intended finished trim size.
Color Mode
CMYK preferredFor four-color printing, files should be prepared in CMYK whenever possible. RGB is primarily intended for screen and digital applications and is not preferred for four-color print production. Converting RGB artwork to CMYK can result in differences between the colors displayed on screen and the final printed piece.
Preferred File Formats
Press-ready PDF or packaged InDesignPlease provide either a press-ready PDF prepared to the specifications above, or a packaged native Adobe InDesign file, including all linked images and fonts required for production.
If you're unsure whether your files are properly prepared, contact DMNY before submitting them. We're happy to review the requirements for your particular project.
